We’re thrilled to share some exciting news. BOTALLOW has been awarded an Ārohia Evidence Grant by Callaghan Innovation, supporting our mission to reimagine one of nature’s oldest skincare ingredients through modern sustainability and cosmetic science.

This milestone helps us take the next step in validating and scaling New Zealand’s first cosmetic grade lamb tallow innovation.

What the Ārohia Evidence Grant Means

The Ārohia Evidence Grant supports pioneering New Zealand businesses to gather the insights needed to demonstrate novelty, ecosystem benefits, and market potential before commercialisation.

For BOTALLOW, this means collaborating with formulators, skincare brands, and researchers to explore how lamb tallow, a gentle, nutrient rich lipid derived from pure suet, can open new opportunities in personal care.

This work builds on our success with Beef Suet Tallow, already trusted by brands seeking a premium, locally sourced emollient made to cosmetic specifications.

Introducing Cosmetic Grade Lamb Tallow

As part of our evidence gathering programme, we’re now releasing limited samples of our Premium Cosmetic Grade Lamb Tallow for formulators and ingredient partners to test and evaluate.

Refined through our gentle multi stage rendering and filtration process, lamb tallow offers a lighter, silkier texture than beef tallow while maintaining the same deeply emollient, skin compatible fatty acid profile.

We believe this next generation tallow ingredient could redefine what’s possible for natural, high performing moisturisers, balms, and cleansers, not only in New Zealand but globally.
